Anyone crate digging in the late 2010s noticed an increase in Halftime Drum and Bass. The subgenre exploded. Whether it was the result of Dubstep and Drumstep fallout, or just Drum and Bass doing what it does and remaining dynamic, it gained popularity amongst producers. Nosia was at the forefront of this explosion, featuring a heavy dose of the subgenre on their Nosia Radio, and also releasing it on their label and sub labels. Another heavy hitter was Ivy Lab, who were putting out hit after hit. It seems only fitting that an Ivy Lab remix of Nosia is up first:
Because Nosia had their hands in the rise of the subgenre, I would be remised if I did not include the absolute banger of a remix from Mat ZO:
Halftime grew and gained a liquid feel as well. Liquid master Spectrasoul with Madi Lane put out the haunting "Say What":
From Belgium Drum and Bass master Netsky, teamed up with Lost Frequencies, released "Here With You", and it was like nothing I had ever heard before:
Released on Drum and Bass old school Master Blu Mar Ten's label Blu Mar Ten Music, Conduct with Georgia May Gave us "Water and Oil":
Released on Dispatch Recordings from Homemade Weapons and MC Fokus, "F Word" has the Hip Hop nod while still keeping the movement of Drum and Bass:
After following Dum and Bass through all its twists, turns, growth spurts and growing pains, I wonder what is going to be the next thing thing to come along for the genre. I also wonder if it will be a flash in the pan, or will it shape the genre as a whole. Let us know where you think it is going and who you think will be shaping the genre as a whole.
