DnB Becoming Her

It’s now almost 2025 and women and those who identify as such have made some headway in the historically male-dominated world of drum and bass and jungle music.  We are featured a bit more prominently on lineups all over the world, and because of that the door is opened for even more to come forward!  That’s how it works—if you see someone that is relatable to you they either share your gender, your race, or some other mark of cultural identity, you are more likely to view them as a mentor or someone to look up to or aspire to be.

The part I like to play is to showcase the incredibly talented and underrepresented women of drum and bass.  Within the term “women", I am including both cis- and trans- women and those who fall anywhere in between. I have been collecting and curating drum and bass tracks by female-identifying artists since about 2020, mixing a selected choice of tracks, and placing the mix on Soundcloud under the name DnB Becomes Her.

The first mix, out in March of 2022, hit over 1000 unique plays on SoundCloud, so I decided to make it an annual tradition.  It takes me months to gather the songs for play so I am constantly on the lookout.  I only play each song once, so that ends up being challenging.  It can be very difficult to mix so many styles and sub-genres of drum and bass together, but so far the quality of tunes has made it very enjoyable to blend together in unique ways.

This year I’ve collected quite a bunch of new music and new artists, but I am ALWAYS on the lookout for new artists to add to the roster.  If you or anyone you know is a female-identifying producer, musician, or vocalist within the realm of drum and bass and jungle and any and all sub-genres, please hit me up at djtallyg@gmail.com.  I am HAPPY to pay for tunes, so feel free to send links to your Bandcamp, Beatport, SoundCloud, etc.  I am also delighted to help you promote your upcoming releases or dubs, unsigned or not.

The artists that I HAVE featured in the past include the following (in alphabetical order by my own devices):  A.Fruit, A Little Sound, Anna Morgan, AnnGree, Arietta, Athena, Ava Grace, Azpect, B-complex, Collette Warren, CHAN A-V, Charla Green, Charli Brix, Danky, Decibella, dela Moon, Diane Charlemagne, Dilemma, Djinn, Distinct, DJ Rap, DJ Shakey, Dvine MC, E-LISA, Euphonique, Flava D, Fiyafly, FreshtillDef, gyrofield, Harriet Jaxxon, Illexxandra, IS:SUE, Iris, [IVY], Jen Symmetry, Joanna Syze, Jordana, Kallan HK, Kara, Karina Ramage, Kathryn Brenna, Katy B, KOVEN., Kyrist, Lens, Liz-E, Lorna King, Lovelace, Madam Bliss, Mandidextrous, Mantra, MC Tali, MEL, Mess Jilla, missledz, Missrepresent, Mizeyesis, Mollie Collins, Mrs. Magoo, Murder Kween, Nah Eeto, Nia Archives, Nvrsoft, Paige Julia, Philo, Phyliss Jaxson (aka DJ Noir), pyxis, Reid Speed, Riya, Rudegirl Lana M, Ruth Royall, Saejma, Salex, SenseNet, Shady Novelle, SHIX, Skellytn, Sofia, SOLAH, Stay-C, Sweetpea, Syncope, Tally G, The Untouchables, Unsub, VELLE, Veronica Red, Vibrant Junglist (aka ViJu), WHYS, xeela, and Y-zer.

I have made every attempt to be thorough, but I have been disorganized as of late, so I may have forgotten/included someone who hasn’t been showcased yet.  I know that is a significant amount of artists to list, so I am going to differently list the other artists I know of who I am hoping to include in future mixes, especially the next one which I plan to release on March 8, 2025.  I am not providing links to them for the sake of time management; they will be linked once the mix goes live:
